JOI ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website at my-joi.com and the JOI macOS application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address
  • Display name (optional)
  • Password (stored hashed; we never see your plaintext password)
  • Google account information if you sign in with Google

Usage Data

  • Chat messages and conversation history
  • Screen captures when you enable screen context mode
  • Voice input when you use voice commands
  • Memory and personality customization files

Connector Data

When you connect third-party services (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, Discord, etc.), we store OAuth tokens or API credentials to act on your behalf. We access only the data necessary to fulfill your requests.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. We do not store credit card numbers or billing addresses on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the JOI service
  • To process your AI conversations via third-party LLM providers
  • To execute actions through your connected apps on your behalf
  • To manage your subscription and billing
  • To send transactional emails (account verification, password resets)

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following categories of third parties:

  • AI model providers(Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude) — your chat messages and screen captures are sent to process your requests. These are subject to each provider's terms of service.
  • Supabase— authentication and database hosting.
  • Stripe— payment processing.
  • Connected app providers— when you authorize a connector, data flows between JOI and that service as needed.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Chat history and screen captures are stored to provide the service. You can delete your chat history from the dashboard at any time. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords, and encrypted storage for API keys and OAuth tokens. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data
  • Disconnect third-party connectors at any time
  • Delete your chat history
  • Cancel your subscription and delete your account

7. Screen and Microphone Access

JOI's screen context and voice features require your explicit permission. Screen captures and voice recordings are processed only to fulfill your requests and are not used for advertising or training.

8. Analytics

We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services. We do not serve ads.

9. Children

JOI is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised date.
